It has been way to long since I blogged. But I wanted to share a card that I have been itching to make. I love fall and scarecrows. Back in NY I used to drive by a farm with a scarecrow in the cornfield. It was mechanical and many days it waved it’s hand at me. I loved driving by. When I saw this card I knew I wanted to try that simple yet effective layout. First I had to get the spellbinders label 8 nestabilities. They arrived on Saturday, and this card was born.

I used a retired StampinUp set called Happy Fall Y’all, colored the image with colored pencils and OMS, title is Just Rite Stampers and ribbon was some I had received in a swap years ago- goes great with the fall colors. I can’t wait to make some more fall cards!

This week we get to visit bealoo’s shop. Her shop is full of art for kids. I really like the boys on snowboards and skateboards, reminded me of my oldest when he was growing up, but I wasn’t sure i could find the photos to do a scrap page. So I found Dreamy Dragonfly original art that also inspired me. I have a dragonfly stamp or two that hadn’t been inked in a while. I also wanted to try this technique from Julie Buhler. I save all my acetate packaging to recycle into future window cards or crafts. When cleaning out my studio I found some art institute fine glitter that I knew would make a wonderful addition to my card.
The base is GKD base white. I also used a purple from club scrap, and always artichoke and orchid opulence from SU. I used the markers to match for the flower stamp from GKD. Other stamps are from ClubScrap and another stamp company for the dragonflies, Sparkle is from SU. I used fiskars border punch and my oval plain and scallop nesties. The glitter is on the back of the stamped design, held on with crystal effects.

This weeks challenge takes us to theopalesence shop. A lovely mix of stich counters and fibers. I do not knit- the one time I did- well, it looked nice, but that sweater went from my boyfriend, to my mother, my brother, and finally ended up with my brothers friend. So, I was inspired by this beautiful yarn-
I decided to try my hand at a new technique- misting my distress inks on a nonstick surface- like this. I now know why they sell mini misters- a regular one- not so pretty. I didn’t have any of those peel and stick masks either, but decided I would try cutting wax paper left on my table with a sizzlet die and using my temporary dotto to hold it down. Do not try this at home- it just shreds the wax paper when you are using an intricate die. So I stamped with various stamps, cut the intricate die on cardstock and used my Justrite stamp fonts of brayton and trompe for my sentiment. Finished it off with some fibers. Since you have made it this far I guess you would like to see the project! Here you go, I am off to go find a good book!

This is a home sweet home challenge sponsored by Marks Paper Company . This company was new to me, but I really like that they sell both digital and paper products.
I have wanted to make this project for quite some time, but never got around to it. So many ideas, so little time. Then this morning I saw this technique with cuttlebug folders and new I had to combine the two!
Here is my home tweet home:

I bought shrinky dinks rough and ready for another project (scroll down) and just had to use it to make the welcome sign!

The details:
for the welcome sign- shrinky dink, tan and red koh-i-noor colored pencils, memento tuxedo black ink, welcome stamp- SU, flowers- GinaKDesigns- little tees, SU mini brad to hang
for the birdhouse- I used the pattern from Nichole’s blog post twice, once on white cardstock to use the faux fresco technique on and once on SU sahara sand for the base. I used both sahara sand and baja breeze SU inks for the fresco technique along with the birds and swirls folder. I cut the fresco into four pieces and then attached them to sahara sand base. I think you could do it on just one piece, but not sure how easy it would be to score. The base and top are baja breeze. I used a beige mini eyelet and hemp to hang it with. I really am in love with this project.
When I moved from where I had lived for over 40 years, my sister made me wreath that said- home is where you build your nest- with lots of bird houses. It was a rough transition for a while, and birdhouses remind me that where I am – is home!
You still have time to enter this challenge ! I am off to see what others came up with. Hope to see you at the virtual spa weekend- see my top post for more info.

Boy just under the wire getting this one in. Ideas ruminated in my mind all week and then I had to work (must support my habit somehow!) and time ran away. The challenge can be found here. We were to pick something from Angel Face Designs Etsy shop as our inspiration. I chose the sister necklace as my inspriration. You see I come from a large family- girl, girl, boy, girl/boy,boy, boy, boy, boy, boy, me, boy! As you can also see, I was surrounded by boys- no wonder it took me so long to find my feminine side. My sisters had grown up and moved out by the time I was aware that I was mostly tomboy. I value the time I spend with them, and the help they have given me through the years. My ideas were cards for my sisters, or a scrapbook page, and then I saw this tutorial at splitcoast and new just the stamp set I could use. Here is my finished item:

I think for the next one, I will try supporting the glass bulb upright in the oven to enable my large piece to actually end up flat insted of curved- and now it is too late to take it out. I have so many ideas for this- Christmas bulbs, thinking of you, wedding- oh so many ideas- so few bulbs! The stamp is you’re my sister from stampabilities- picked it up on sale somewhere to make cards to send to my sisters! I used my SU chocolate chip marker and koh-i-noor colored pencils for the flowers and leaves- I love how they get brighter as it shrinks! Hope you enjoyed this inspiration as much as I did!
